What do you offer?
Hanami Cake Design is 100% fully customizable! We offer a huge range of sweets including cakes, cupcakes, whoopie pies, pies, tarts, doughnuts, macarons, and more. From flavors to shapes to decoration, we can usually accommodate any and all requests as long as we have enough notice. We love being challenged and experimenting with new ways to make delicious things, and to make them beautiful and unique just for you!

Can you make things for people with dietary restrictions?
Yes, we can! Most of our sweets can be made gluten-free, vegan, dairy-free, organic, and a select—but growing number—can also be made refined sugar free. If you or your guests have other dietary restrictions, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate.
That being said, we are
not an allergen-free bakery, and as such we cannot guarantee a lack of cross contamination for those with serious allergies, despite our best efforts. Therefore, for those ordering allergen-sensitive items, we do require that they sign a waiver acknowledging their understanding of this risk. You can preview this waiver
Do you offer tastings?
Yes, we do! Tastings are $35 for two people with any four flavors that you would like to taste. Additional fees apply if you would like more people at your tasting, or additional or unique flavors.
We will happily come to you at your residence or other location that is most convenient and comfortable for you. All that you need to provide are the plates, silverware and napkins and leave the rest up to us.
Tastings include a one hour-long session to taste your requested flavors and complete the initial consult on the details of your order. A follow up is then emailed to you confirming the design and details, along with a Contract for your reference. Your 50% non-refundable deposit is due then to finalize your booking, and we start work on it immediately!

What are your popular flavors?
While we are infinitely customizable, there are quite a few options that are return favorites! Some of these include:

Do you offer delivery? What are your delivery fees?
Yes, we deliver! If you or your venue is within a 10-mile radius of Portland, ME the delivery fee is $10. If you or your venue is outside of that please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org for a more specific quote.
What are your standard cakes like?
Unless otherwise requested or required, all cakes come with four layers of cake, your choice of three possible fillings, and iced in swiss meringue buttercream. Undecorated cakes generally stand approximately 5" high.

Booking and Policies
What are your prices?
With the amount of custom work we do, set prices are tricky to come by. But in general base prices* are:
Conventional cakes: $6.00/serving
Vegan and gluten free cakes: $7.00/serving
Refined sugar free cakes: $7.50/serving
Organic cakes: $8.00/serving
Combo cakes (vegan + gluten-free + etc.): $8.50/serving
Mini cupcakes: $25/dozen
Other dessert offerings: priced individually
*base prices are calculated on a vanilla cake with vanilla swiss meringue
buttercream, and with minimal to no decoration.

I want to book with you, what do I need to do?
Thank you very much for choosing us to be a part of your special day! First and foremost, please fill out the inquiry form found
here with as much detail as possible. A follow-up email will be sent out to you as soon as possible confirming the details and with any questions we might have to make sure your order is exactly as you would like.
After that, you can schedule a tasting with us if you would like taste test our flavors and discuss the details of your order. We highly recommend this if your order is large or for a special event.
If not, a final confirmation will be emailed to you with the total, 50% of which is required to be paid as soon as possible in order to confirm your booking. No order is confirmed until the first payment has been made. The remaining 50% of your total is required at least two weeks before your event. Orders that have not been paid in full by that point will not be completed.
What is your payment policy?
All orders require a non-refundable deposit of 50% of the total when booking, with the remaining half due at least two weeks prior to your event. Orders that have not been paid in full by that point will not be completed.
What are your payment options?
We accept cash, check, PayPal, and all major credit cards (via Square).
What is your cancellation policy?
While we understand that situations change, we start work on your order the moment you finalize your booking. Our policy of a mandatory non-refundable deposit of 50% of your total is to cover what time and materials have already gone into your order before cancelling.
How much notice do you need?
As much as possible. The season gets busy quickly and orders placed weeks or even months out can get tricky to fill. Six weeks is required with more notice desired if possible. We cannot guarantee the ability to accommodate orders placed within six weeks.
Can you do rush orders?
...Possibly. While rush orders might be possible, our ability to complete rush orders entirely depends on the size of your order and what else is going on that week or month here at the bakery. Please contact us at email@example.com to inquire and we will do our best to try and accommodate your order if possible! Please also note that rush order fees may apply.
Can you ship orders?
At this time, we do not.
Can you also set our cake/dessert table all up for us?
Depending on the size of your cake and the complexity of your design, setup might be required on site. Dessert table setup is usually left up to your catering company.
